Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer returned to his home state of Tennessee Friday night as he scored a game-high 22 points in the Timberwolves 135-110 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
More than 20 friends and family members made the trip from Portland to Memphis to see Brewer play.
"It's always a lot of fun to play infront of your friends and family," Brewer said.
The Timberwolves took the Houston Rockets to three overtimes a few nights earlier and that took its toll on the visitors as the Grizzlies came out strong in the second half to outscore Minnesota 40-22 in the third quarter.
"We just didn't come out to play," Brewer said. "After losing in three overtimes the way we lost, and to come out tonight, it was embarrassing."
In 25 minutes of action Brewer made seven of 13 shots from the field while making all three attempts from behind the arc. Over the last six games Corey is 10 of 21 in three-point attempts.
The improvement in his game can be easily seen in his numbers from year to year.
In 41 games this season, he is averaging 12.6 points per game while shooting the ball at 42.4 percent from the field. Brewer in his first two seasons averaged 5.6 and 6.2 points per game.
"The jump shot is all about confidence," Brewer added. "Once you get the confidence you can make them all night."
Minnesota will be busy over the next week as the team will play four games in seven days with contests against the New Orleans Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
