The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 94-92 Wednesday night at the Target Center. Kevin Durant paced the Thunder with 31 points and 10 boards, Jeff Green also reached double figures for the visitors with 15 points and nine rebounds. Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer led the way for the home with 25 points, six assists, and five boards. Al Jefferson added 20 points and nine rebounds. Rookie point guard Jonny Flynn missed a three-point shot at the buzzer that just missed. Durant was closely guarded throughout the game by Brewer as they traded shots throughout the contest, Brewer made five of his first eight shots for 14 points in the opening half as the Timberwolves trailed 55-51 at the break. With the Thunder clinging to an 88-86 lead late in the game, Durant scored six straight points, two pull-up jumpers and two free throws, to make it 94-86 with 2:14 to play, and Oklahoma City hung on the for the win. The Timberwolves were playing without the services of forward Kevin Love who is out with an ilness. |
