Nuggets down Wolves

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-102 Wednesday night at the Target Center.

Despite the loss small forward Corey Brewer extended his franchise record to 29 straight games with a made three-point basket. Brewer scored 21 points in the loss. He shot eight of 19 from the field and grabbed five boards and had two assists.

Three other players reached double figures in scoring for the Timberwolves. Al Jefferson had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Kevin Love finished with 15 points and 11 boards. Rookie point guard Jonny Flynn scored 11 points and dished out four assists.

Chauncey Billups led the Nuggets in scoring with 25 points and three assists.

Carmelo Anthony finishd with 19 points.

The Nuggets held the Timberwolves to 38 percent from the field for the game.

Minnesota led 53-48 at halftime, but that lead went away in the third quarter as the visitors outscored the home team 31-19. After that run the Nuggets never looked back as the Timberwolves got the deficit down to 96-91 in the fourth quarter, but the Nuggets cruised in the final minutes of the contest.

Minnesota is 14-51 for the season and will take on the Sacramento Kings Friday night.
